Chocolate Cake

Easy chocolate cake.


  • 1 &  1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1tsp of apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp of nut butter
  • handful of choc chips.

    Chocolate Glaze

  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 4 tbsp of margarine
  • 2 tbsp of soy milk
  • 2 tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit/ 180 degrees Celsius. In a bowl put the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, salt, water, vanilla, oil and vinegar and mix until smooth (best to use a hand blender). Then stir in the chocolate chips.
  2. put into an oven proof dish and bake for about 30 minutes or until a knife comes out clean when you check it.  Leave to cool completely before adding the glaze.
  3. For the glaze, in a small pan mix the sugar, margarine, milk, and cocoa and bring to a boil, stirring frequently and then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 mins, stirring all the time.  Remove from the heat and keep stirring for another few minutes.  Add vanilla, mix and pour immediately onto the cake, it dries really quickly so spread it immediately. Leave this to cool for about an hour (if you can wait that long) 🙂
